Beginner Weaving 101
  • Weaving on an Inkle Loom
  • This is a 3 hour class
  • Weave on a handcrafted wooden Inkle Loom
  • Each participant will take home at least one finished product

Intermediate Weaving 201
  • Weaving on a harnessed loom -  2 day class
  • Learn weaving on a loom with a harness.

Advanced Weaving 301
  • Weaving on a harnessed floor loom -
  • We will learn weaving on a loom with a harness.
  • This is a three day class.

  • Lessons will include washing, dying, wet felting, carding, picking, spindling, spinning, needle felting and weaving.

~  Need a relaxing new hobby?  Fiber work is soothing and wonderful.

  • Bring a sack lunch each day. We provide snacks & beverages at two break times each day.
  • Our classes go a step farther than regular classes - we teach some history of fiber arts, and practical technology.
  • Retreat Fee: $179 for all 3 days or $74 for each individual day
  • Retreat held at Shepherd’s Cross, an authentic working farm, just north of Claremore OK on Scenic Route 66.
  • Shepherd’s Cross hosts a mini wool mill, processing wool from their 200 sheep on site.
  • Retreats are augmented by hands on learning tools available in the Educational Farm Museum, and with a
    collection of fiber arts from around the world.
  • Shepherd’s Cross is the only Animal Welfare Approved sheep farm in Oklahoma and processes the only Animal
    Welfare Approved fiber sold in the U.S. (that is chemical free, hormone free, free range, natural)
All Classes may be scheduled most Tuesday - Saturday 8:30 - 5:30.  
We schedule individuals or groups, working with your needs and schedule.

  • Wool Washing 101, 201     Learn how to wash wool.  Bring your own, or use ours.  We will wash an
    entire fleece in the class.  Class takes approximately  2 hours.  $20 per person.

  • Wool Carding & Picking 101, 201      Learn how to comb & card wool.  Bring your own, or use
    ours.  Combing basics will include the use of picks, hand carders, & drum carding. Bring your own
    fiber to card, or use ours.    Class length is 3 hours.  $35 per person.

  • Needle Felting 101, 201      Learn how to felt with needles.  Wool Batts provided, or bring your own
    fiber.  Take your first felted project home with you.  $20 for a 2 hour class.

  • Spindling 101, 201      Learn how to spin wool on a drop spindle.  Wool batts provided.  Bring your
    own spindle, or purchase one at Shepherd's Shop when you arrive.  Take your first yarn home.   
    $20 for a 2 hour class

  • Spinning Wheel 101, 201   Learn how to spin on a spinning wheel.  Bring your own fiber and wheel,
    or  borrow one or ours. We will provide the fiber for the class, but feel free to bring your own fiber.  
    Take  your first yarn home.  $35.00 for a 3 hour class.  (No additional charge for wheel use)
  • Knitting 101, 201      Learn how to knit - basic stitches.  Bring your own worsted weight yarn, or
    some will be provided.  Bring your own size 9 knitting needles.  Begin your first potholder or scarf.  
    $20 for 2 hour class.

  • Crochet 101, 201   Learn how to crochet - basic stitches.  Bring your own worsted weight yarn, or
    some  will be provided.  Bring your own size I or J crochet hook.  Make your first potholder or scarf.   
    $20 for a 2 hour class.

  • Wet Felt - "Rolled" - 101, 201   Learn how to use your "throw away" wool (or any wool fibers) to
    make a usable wool product.  Bring your own wool, or purchase here.  We use a state of the art
    felting machine.  Take a useful product home by the end of the 3 hour session. We are one of the
    few facilities in the nation offering wet felt rolling classes.  A unique, easy, and practical use of fiber,
    wet felting is practiced all over the world.   Wall Hangings, rugs, garments - the options are
    limitless!    Class is $35 per person.

  • Hand Dyed Fiber - 101, 201        Learn how to dye wool.  E use our own wool, processed here on
    site.  We will uncombed washed wool, combed batts & yarn in this class.  We use both natural and
    not so natural dyes.  Learn practical methods of dying in your own kitchen.  Class is $35 per
    person.  Each student will take some of each type of colored fiber home.

Wet (Wool) Fiber Processing Day Retreat

and machine methods. Each participant will take home at least two finished
products. Cost: $74 - reduced price compared to paying for each class on an
individual basis; fiber is included. Bring a sack lunch. We provide snacks and
beverages at two break times. Class minimum of two people. Class max of 10
people. Our classes go a step further than regular classes - we teach some history
of fiber arts and practical do it yourself technology.

Dry (Wool) Fiber Processing Day Retreat
Drop Spindle - Spin - Card - Pick

Students learn how to work with dry fiber in the arts of carding, picking, drop
spindle &  spinning wheel.  We teach more than the basics - includes tour of the
Farm Museum and history of the fiber arts. Cost: $74.  Bring a sack lunch.

Finished Fiber Day Retreat
Weaving - Needle Felting
