"Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this,
To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep
himself unspotted from the world."  James 1:27
Heart of the Shepherd, our 501-C3 Organization, works globally providing
training to impoverished communities, This training is generally in the area of
animal husbandry or  fiber arts.   The ultimate objective is to assist these people
in a impoverished communities, This training is generally in the area of animal
way the people are not given a "hand out but a hand up."    One of the tenants
of this training is to work with indigenous people in a manner that allows the
talents of their ancestral heritage to be respectfully maintained.  For example, a
village in Thailand that works with silk Heart of the Shepherd encouraged the
production of silk products.  In a village in Sierra Leone that has historically
worked with cotton, they encouraged and trained the villagers to produce cotton
products.  At a dacha in Russia, the orphans were trained to produce products
from wool produced by their sheep.  This work is generally provided in areas
where there is no electricity.
